Chinese people have used lacquer to decorate and furnish ornaments for a long time. Lacquer wares have been found among the archaeological finds dating from thousands of years ago. The modern art form of polished lacquer painting combines the skills for making traditional lacquer wares with modern art design ideas. The tools that lacquer painting artists use include those that are used by craftsmen to make furniture. Artists use lacquer as the primary paint medium, and large, colorful objects can be represented by applying materials like egg shells or sea shells to the painting. Colorful minerals--like turquoise and pyrite--and metals--gold, silver and brass—are also often applied to the painting.

Mar 28, 2009I strongly believe that creativity can be measured and is based upon experience. My experience, includes corporate branding, set up and manage- ment of both cooperate creative and production teams and most recently, art direction at the Asbury Park Press, Gannett Corporation.
As Art Director, I have developed new procedures to inform and stream line both the creative and the production process. Comfortable in fast pace environments, I've been able to prioritize and delegate departmental ad flow with ease, keeping his design team efficient. Trouble shooting and problem solving skills have been integral in maintaining this level of productivity. My abilities are strong, from concept through fruition.

Mar 26, 2009Being a South African artist, I experience my art as a voice, expressing my innermost joys and fears. I am very
susceptible to emotions and use this attribute to observe
people, their experiences and that of my everyday
surroundings.
I studied fashion design at the Cape Technicon before I married and moved to Swellendam, South Africa.
My interest change to oil painting. Exhibitions include Morgenzon Gallery, Swellendam; Hugo Naude Gallery, Worcester.
